Three New Library Displays for May

The Ort Library is pleased to present three new displays for May.

The first display, titled "Watergate: The Burglary and Cover-up That Brought down a President" is available on the 3rd floor (main entrance).  The display highlights 40th Anniversary of the Senate Watergate Hearings in May 1973.  Books from the Ort Library and other USMAI Libraries are highlighted.  It also provides information on some of the central figures of the Watergate scandal.  Finally, the display includes copies of some headlines about the scandal from newspapers, including The Washington Post.

The second display, also located on the 3rd floor (located between the 4 stand-up PCs), celebrates National Bike Month.  The display highlights the changes in the design of bicycles from their invention during the early 19th century.  An early bike design, called the Velocipede or “Bone Shaker” got its name because when you rode the bike over cobblestones, your bones would shake.

The last display is located on the 5th floor and celebrates Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month.  This display highlights some data from the Census regarding those of Asian and Pacific American Heritage, including that the Asian, alone or in combination, population grew by 46% between the 2000 and 2010 census, the largest increase of any group.  It also highlights some famous Asian-Pacific Americans, including Duke Kahamamoku and Amy Tan.

The displays will be up through the month of May.

If you have any questions about the displays, please contact Theresa Mastrodonato at ext. 4425 or tmmastrodonato@frostburg.edu or MaryJo Price at ext. 4889 or mprice@frostburg.edu.
