What You Should Know about Financial Aid: FSU Government Resources Have the Answers!

Did you know that the time line and process for submitting your FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid) has changed? According to the Federal Student Aid Office of the U.S. Department of Education, the application process is now open from October 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018 and requires the submission of tax information from 2015 tax returns

Not sure what this is or what means for you? Wondering what kinds of aid will be accessible, whether or not you are eligible, or how to go about applying? The FSU Lewis J. Ort Library Government Documents Libguide has many weblinks with answers to these questions and more!

The 2nd floor Media area will be featuring a bulletin board showcasing these resources, as well as answers to some of these essential questions. The sites featured can be found on the Libguide created by our Government Documents Librarian, Lisa Hartman at  http://libguides.frostburg.edu/gov-topic.

Under “Children’s Government Resources” the Kids.gov link will lead you to websites on varying subjects managed by USA.gov.  Here there are two major links you can click on to give you Financial Aid information. The first is “How do I apply for federal/student aid” and the other is “Financial Aid for Students.” Both of these links take you to pages detailing the types of aid out there, eligibility requirements, how to apply, and what to expect from the process. They also connect you directly to the FAFSA form website and provide how to videos for the process, as well as deadlines and information you may need to complete your FAFSA form.

This information is essential to your higher education, so don’t waste any time (or money) and check out these resources to know your options and to get your financial aid application started correctly right away!

Please come by and check it out! For questions dealing specifically with your Frostburg State Financial Aid process for deadlines and other essential information, please visit the FSU Financial Aid Office web page at https://www.frostburg.edu/admissions-and-cost/financial-aid/ or contact them  at 114 Pullen Hall, 301-687-4301, fsufinaid@frostburg.edu.
