Featured Online Resource: The American Film Institute

The American Film Institute (AFI) is dedicated to motion picture preservation and education.

Their blog provides interviews with performers, directors, and others in the motion picture industry.  You can listen to podcasts from their podcast library to hear professionals discuss historic and more recent movies.

The AFI also runs the AFI Silver Theater in Silver Spring, MD.  A list of events is available to see their schedule of films.

They might be best known, however, for their movie lists.  One of their most well known lists is AFI's 100 Greatest American Films of All Time. This list was published in 2007, on their 100th anniversary.  While the top 100 of all time may be their most famous list, there are many more to see.  The 10 Top 10 lists America's 10 Greatest Films in 10 Classic Genres.

Take a few moments to guess the number one picks in each of these lists, and then click the link to see if you were correct!

Every week, the Ort Library brings you a new and outstanding resource from the Web or from one of the library's databases. To get an archive of all FOR entries, click here. Also, you can suggest a website that provides well-organized access to useful info.
