This week’s Featured Online Resource is Open States (http://openstates.org). This website collects information about elected officials in all 50 states. You enter your address and gather information about elected officials, their voting record, and research bills that have been proposed for your local area. The goal of the website is to provide more information about a person’s state government.
You can
get information on your local legislators. For example, in the screen shot
below, Maryland was selected and then Frostburg was selected from the map. It
shows who serves the local area in both the Maryland General Assembly.
Open
States also offers an app for your iPhone or iPad.
Every
week, the Ort Library brings you a new and outstanding resource from the Web or
from one of the library's databases. To get an archive of all FOR entries,
click here. Also, you can suggest a website that provides
well-organized access to useful info.
