TD &T (formerly Theatre Design and Technology) Journal Available Online

The Lewis J. Ort Library staff are pleased to let everyone know that the journal TD & T (Theatre Design and Technology) is freely available online for student, faculty, and staff use.

The journal can be accessed through either of the following links:

You can then access the journal by selecting the FindIt button. If you are off-campus you will need to sign in with your barcode and last name.

The online journal is available from its first issue in 1965.

New Displays for August 2020

The Lewis J. Ort Library is pleased to present several new displays for August 2020.

The first display is located on the 3rd floor of the library. It is a welcome to students, faculty, and staff back to the library by introducing some of the resources and services that the library offers.

The second display is also located on the 3rd floor of the library. It celebrates the first US Census held in August 1790. The first census recorded just under 4 million people living in the US.

The third is located on the 5th floor of the library. It celebrates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. the display highlights several women who were instrumental in the suffrage movement.

Please stop by and visit the displays to learn more about the topics.

Fall Library Hours Start Monday August 17

The Lewis J. Ort Library staff would like to welcome you to the fall semester at Frostburg State University. The library staff look forward to assisting you with your research needs this semester. The library will be open this semester for your study and research needs.

The Fall hours for the Library begin Monday August 17.

The hours will be:

  • Monday - Thursday -- 8:00 am - 9:00 pm
  • Friday -- 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Saturday -- 11:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Sunday -- 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm

March Book Madness 2020 - Champion Crowned

The voting for the Champion of March Book Madness 2020 has ended.

In the end it came down to a contest between:
  • Charles Dickens (England) - Great Expectations
  • Jonathan Swift (Ireland) - Gulliver's Travels
In the end only one book can be crowned Ort Library's March Book Madness Champion for 2020. With over 2800 votes.....

March Book Madness - Championship Game - Voting Starts Today (4/7)


Congratulations to the two authors/books moving onto the Championship Game for March Book Madness.

The two authors/books moving onto the Championship Game are:

  • Jonathan Swift (Ireland) – Gulliver’s Travels
Good luck to both authors/books during the Championship Match.

Voting for the Championship begins today April 7 and ends Thursday April 9.

March Book Madness - Voting for Final 4 Begins Today (4/3)


Congratulations to all the authors/books that are moving onto the Final 4 in March Book Madness. This is where the competition gets harder as we had some extremely close games during the Elite 8.

Voting for the Final 4 begins today April 3 and ends Monday April 6.

This year our categories are focused on authors from around the world. As part of this the author and a book they have written will be paired together during the competition. You will vote on author/book as a pair. 

The 8 categories are:
  • Authors from South America
  • Authors from Europe
  • Authors from North America
  • Authors from Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Islands
  • Authors from Africa
  • Authors from Ireland (in honor of Irish American Heritage Month)
  • Authors from Central America/Caribbean
  • Authors from Asia
