Local FDLP Libraries' Representatives Meet

Connie Clifton, Dean of Educational Services and Acting Director for the Donald L. Alexander Library at Allegany College of Maryland, and Lisa Hartman, Government Documents and Reference Librarian at FSU, met January 12 to discuss possibilities for increased collaboration for Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) participation by their respective libraries.

The Ort Library at Frostburg State recently celebrated its 50 year anniversary as a selective depository for FDLP. A display case on Floor 2 contains highlights from the federal documents collection as well as the Government Publishing Office's plaque formally acknowledging the Ort Library's participation from 1967-2017.

While the anniversary has now passed, displays about the program and highlighted documents will remain available this month. Stop by and see the type of information that can be found in our government documents area! Celebrate with us! 50 Years in the FDLP

Monday, December 4, 2017 will mark the library's 50th anniversary as a member of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP)!

We will be celebrating with cake and refreshments from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the government documents area (2nd floor) today! Please drop by join us in our celebration!

The Ort Library is proud to participate as a member of the FDLP.  As a member, we have access to a selection of Federal government documents. This includes documents which are published online. In addition to the documents themselves, the program offers training opportunities for library staff and a network of other participating libraries so that we can help you better with your government information needs!

A special birthday coming next week!

On December 4, 1967. Frostburg State College's Framptom Library (now Frostburg State University's Lewis J. Ort Library) became a member of the Federal Depository Library System!

Next week, on Mon. Dec. 4, we will be celebrating this anniversary with cake and refreshments from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. (or while the food lasts).  Please join us and enjoy some treats in the government documents area on the 2nd floor of the library at that time!
